Psalm 119:98
We seek to support people of all ages, origin and orientation to discover Christ as Lord, and commit themselves to serving God in and through the Church “… We are therefore Christ’s ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us…” 2Cor 5:20
The journey of Josephine hinde“In fact the welcome and the friendship at Garratt Road Church has always been one of the things that has kept me happily attending church there for some 30 years… And all because I wanted to join a BIBLE CLASS all those years ago!”It all came about because I wanted to join a BIBLE CLASS. |

I mentioned this to a friend, RENE BROWN, a lovely lady and a true Christian. She said a House meeting took place in her house for that purpose, so I joined. The discussions and study were very enjoyable and I made good friends.
I did attend church , but Rene suggested I might like to come to the METHODIST CHURCH in Garratt Road with her – which I did one Sunday and found a good service. So I continued to attend and made many friends.
The minister at that time was the Rev. Richard Heafield, he and his wife became friends too.
In fact the welcome and the friendship at Garratt Road Church has always been one of the things that has kept me happily attending church there for some 30 years.
At that time – and for many years – there was a GIRL’S BRIGADE, and each year they gave a DISPLAY which was a delight.
There were church outings also, among which was one to SANDRINGHAM and HUNSTANTON, and one to JOHN
CONSTABLE ‘country’ and DEDHAM. all well attended and most enjoyable.
I was invited to join the WOMEN’S FELLOWSHIP, which met once a week in the devotional room. I much enjoyed the meetings and the friendship.
We also had a FLOWER FESTIVAL and a concert or two. At one of the latter I sang and MARGARET CRANNER’S daughters, Pauline and Julie played instruments.
Others took part, and the whole evening was called “A MUSICAL SOIREE” to introduce the new organ. This was in July 1985 (see photograph).
Over the years I have seen a number of Ministers come and go, and many of them have been inspirational in their work and services at Garratt Road. Much has changed over the years, but the same spirit of friendship and inspiration remains and I find that great care is taken of me, for which I am very grateful.
And all because I wanted to join a BIBLE CLASS all those years ago!
JOSEPHINE HINDE ((September 2016)!
